AM LANDSCAPE DESIGN
Hi there! I’m Annaliese (Hoffman) Magnussen --

I grew up in St. James, MN, where my brothers and I loved spending time outdoors—whether swimming, camping, fishing in the summer, or snowmobiling and sledding in the winter. That love for being outside has stayed with me, and it’s a big part of why I chose landscape design. I’m grateful my job lets me use my creativity while enjoying the outdoors every day.

I attended South Dakota State University, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture with a Design Build emphasis and a minor in Horticulture. I met my husband, Eric, on one of my first days in Brookings.

A month before I graduated, we got married. For nearly a month following graduation, I went on a travel studies trip to Italy. When I returned, we were finally able to settle into our 'new to us' family farm. Eric’s grandparents generously gave us the opportunity to buy their acreage, where our cow-calf operation is located.

A few days after returning from Italy, I started as a landscape designer at Greenworld, Inc. in Sioux Center. The first year was an intense learning experience that laid the foundation for the hands-on skills I would continue to develop.

Designing has been a constant source of growth and learning for me, with each project bringing something new. I’m grateful for a career that not only challenges and inspires me, but also gives me the flexibility to be present with our four young kids.
